This choice: but you still desire Lucy • Go Back...Chapter #9but you still desire Lucy by: ro34 Anna, now fully immersed in her new reality, stood on the sidelines of the crowded football field, her pom-poms shimmering in the bright sunlight. Her uniform was perfect—blue and white, matching the school colors, and her cheerleading moves were sharp and confident. Beside her, Jake, the tall, popular quarterback, flashed her a charming smile as he threw a long pass, earning cheers from the crowd.
Yet beneath the confident exterior, a familiar ache gnawed at her heart. Despite her new life as a cheerleader and her role as Jake’s girlfriend, her thoughts kept drifting back to Lucy. The girl who used to be her best friend, the girl she secretly admired from afar, the girl she still desired in her quiet moments.
Anna’s mind replayed memories of Lucy’s laughter, her kindness, and the way she had always seemed just out of reach. Now, in this altered reality, Lucy was dating Oliver, the boy who used to be her rival—a fact that added a bitter edge to her feelings. She knew that, according to this version of reality, Lucy and Oliver were happily together, and she was supposed to be content with her new life.
But the old feelings refused to fade. Every cheer, every touchdown, reminded her of what she truly wanted—Lucy’s affection, her friendship, the connection they once shared. Anna clenched her fists briefly, trying to suppress the longing, but it was persistent.
As Jake approached her after a successful play, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, Anna forced a bright smile. “This is so much fun,” she said, her voice cheerful but internally conflicted. She knew she was living a dream, but her heart still yearned for the girl she had lost.
Later that evening, as she sat alone in her room, Anna looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her cheerleading uniform and quarterback’s jersey reflected a confident girl, but her eyes betrayed her inner turmoil. She wondered if she could truly be happy in this life, or if her old desires would threaten to break through the new facade.
She clenched her jaw, realizing that even in this altered reality, her feelings for Lucy remained unshaken. No matter how much she tried to embrace her new identity, a part of her still longed for what she once had—the friendship, the affection, the unspoken connection with Lucy that now seemed just out of reach.
