This choice: Him trying to create an antidote • Go Back... After securing you in your room for 'your own safety', James tracked down dad to find him inside his massive laboratory. He was feverishly moving from station to station with both aunt Viva Vogue and grandpa Devlin Moray following him. Each were giving him a riot act that would have placed any other man into tears. Viva was your mother's older sister and a near mirror image of her; tall and slender with long black hair and hazel eyes. Devlin Moray was a tall, dark elderly man who sported an eighteenth century gentleman's suit with unusually long coat tails that moved about as if they had a mind of their own. He wore knee high riding boots, a top hat covering his raven black hair, and carried a silver tipped cane with a large diamond. His eyes hid behind round shining glasses while he held a toothy, almost sinister grin.
"How dare you transform my sister's daughter before consulting me!" Enraged, Viva shouted. "Her birthright is to be a powerful witch and the next heir to the magical throne! You have just robbed me, the entire witching world of her talents!" She shook her head, fuming. "The witch council will not be pleased if her transformation becomes permanent and I cannot train her!"
"The right to train her is mine and mine alone, dear sister in law." Coldly, dad countered. "Also, although I accept the responsibility of an err in judgment, the transformation is not permanent." He turned to her with cold, calculating eyes which forced her to hesitate. "I am far more careful than that and for you to even suggest otherwise is a complete insult unlike your err of judgement with your former brother, Christian."
Viva took a step back as if she were slapped in the face, tears forming. "I payed for that mistake, in spades." Her voice quivering, she said. "Both Maria and I did together."
Devlin cleared his throat, catching dad's attention. "Son, I speak sincerely towards you; I trained you far better than that." In a deadly calm, he scolded. "I am dismayed both as your superior and as your Father." He motioned to Viva. "Bringing up past mistakes of others does not justify your own. The will of a mad scientist is to learn from your errors and the errors of others, not to repeat them."
"This is my first grand error as a father, my dear mentor and head mad scientist." More respectfully, dad replied. "My reference to Viva's error was not a justification but a reflection that even the most powerful to men and women are capable of mistakes." He frowned. "I began work on correcting my mistake immediately upon realizing it..."
"All errors, as a father are grand, my dear eldest child." Coldly, Devlin interrupted. "The point is this error effects more than just the transformed girl in question but an entire community of magically powerful women who are demanding answers..."
Back and forth, Devlin and Viva read dad the riot act as he worked on an antidote for your male condition which James knew had to be distracting to say the least. He jumped slightly as Devlin turned to him. "This is a private matter, dear grandchild!" Sternly, he said. "Speak nothing of what you have seen and heard or I promise you a greater riot act will come your way!"
With that, James found himself in the sitting room, shaken. "And Jessica thinks dad gives a rough riot act about her getting an A-minus on a test."
Later, dad made the antidote but...
