"Let's make common cause then, shall we?" the spy said. His green eyes and golden hair proclaimed him a Lannister, his smile declared him a rogue. He quickly mounted and drew forth his glowing sword. "This way, where the ruffians are thinnest."
"For now we make common case, but only for the nonce, Lannister," said queen Hannah as she mounted and followed toward the narrow trail. Hannah unlimbered her bow and reached for an arrow.
"Quickly, speed is our ally now."
Hannah drew and would have taken one of the dark cloaked men, but before she could loose, the Lannister came between, sword flashing.
They rode on, the spy too near on the path for her to even raise her bow. Young trees pressed close on every side as they fairly flew down the narrow track. She soon could do little but hold on, and duck the worst of the branches that slapped at her and threatened to unhorse her. Still they pressed on even after they must have left pursuit far behind.
It seemed mad to continue their headlong dash so queen Hannah slowed her pace. The Lannister spy drew ahead as the forest gave way to a small clearing. Then he too slowed, and then drew up before a cave.
"Here we are then," said the golden haired spy, as he walked his horse toward her. "We should be safe now. Here," he said, deftly taking the bow from her hand, "you won't need that." So smoothly was it done that Hannah didn't realize until it was done that he had disarmed her.
"No, I want my bow," she objected, but the smirking smile on his face confirmed her fears, "do you know who I am?"
"Why yes, my lady, you are my prisoner."
Hannah tried to turn, to flee, but out of the woods were coming dark cloaked men. Too late she saw that beneath their black cloaks was Lannister crimson.
