Chapter #52Lovebug by: Seven
"What?! What do you mean I can't go?" You snapped at the stern-faced woman, still holding up her hand to block your path forward. "My next trial is just up the road from here."
"I won't repeat myself." The Aether Foundation employee told you in the same disinterested tone. "An anomaly has been detected in this area. Until it has been thoroughly investigated and resolved, the Foundation will be keeping this area closed and off-limits. This is for your own safety."
"What kind of 'anomaly'?" You demanded, making sure to add the meanest air quotes you possibly could. "Is it like, a rare Pokémon or something? If so, that just makes me want to see it even more!"
"That information is classified." The woman recited just like you were sure she'd been taught. "Please turn back until the situation has been resolved." This chick was seriously getting on your nerves. As a last ditch effort, you reached into your bag and pulled out one of your pokeballs.
"Alright then. If you're gonna be stingy, how about we battle for it?" You thrust the hand holding the pokeball out at the Aether Foundation employee. "If I win, you have to let me through. If I lose, I really will turn back." You expected the dark-skinned woman to be all for it like most other trainers you met. But it seemed she wasn't one to mess around. She bent forward, bringing her face within inches of yours, fixing you with a stare that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
"Get. Lost. Punk." She growled, then gave you a firm shove. You were sent stumbling backward, landing on your bottom as the woman righted herself. You glared daggers up at her from your place on the ground. You were seriously considering summoning out Poplio to put this stuck-up bitch in a bubble and send her floating out to sea. But you didn't want to get in trouble with Officer Jenny, using your pokemon on a trainer who hadn't agreed to a battle. Instead, you merely stuffed your pokeball back into your pocket and climbed to your feet. Still scowling at the woman as you spit on the ground at her feet before turning your back to her.
"'Anomaly', my butt." You grumbled as you turned and trudged back the way you came. You kept walking down the path, retracing your footsteps, and you kicked a large stone out of your way in anger, watching it skip its way into the brush. That was when you got a terrible idea. You kept following the path until the Aether Foundation woman was out of your sight. With a scornful smile on your lips you leapt off the path into the bushes, then silently made your way back up the path, this time safely hidden from view. You kept sneaking until you were within spitting range of the obstinate employee yet again. Reaching for the ground, you lifted a large rock and then hurled it into the bushes on the far side of the path.
"Huh? What was that?" Just as you planned, the Aether Foundation Employee turned in the direction of your distraction, making her way towards the bush across from you. As soon as her back was turned you bolted out of your hiding place and up the path unimpeded, sticking your tongue out at her as you ran. 'For your own safety'. You snorted at the woman's ridiculous notion. You were a fearsome pokemon trainer, one whose Island Challenge was nearly half-done. You were determined to become the first Alolan League Champion, and you weren't going to let some moody chick with a stick up her ass stop you on your path to glory. Still grinning like an idiot at your ingenious plan, you paused as you saw more Aether Foundation grunts in the distance, some standing guard while others were working at some big, complicated-looking equipment.
"Huh. So they really are looking for something here." You muttered to yourself, glancing around at the peaceful clearing you found yourself in. "I wonder what. Doesn't seem like anything weird is going on to me."
It was at that moment that a massive hole was ripped open in the fabric of reality, right in front of you.
"What the %$^%&$!" You screamed some words that were not allowed on children's television as the massive wormhole only seemed to grow larger right in front of you, filling your vision. You had to grab you hat to avoid it being sucked right off your head, the wind picking up dramatically around you. The suction of the wormhole was incredibly strong, and you could feel your feet sliding across the ground as you weredragged towards the jagged hole in the space-time continuum. "HELP! SOMEBODY! HELP ME!" You shrieked, trying to fight against the current and losing. All around you the Aether FOundation employees had been whipped into a frenzy at the sight of their target.
"Kid! What are you doing?! I told you to get out of here!" Glancing over your shoulder you saw the same woman rushing towards you with a panicked expression on her face. "I said it was too dangerous! You should have listened! Here, take my hand!" The Aether employee extended her gloved hand in your direction, and you spun around to face her even as you were dragged within arm's reach of the wormhole by its power. You stretched your arm in the woman's direction, your fingertips a hair's breadth from each other, an inch or two more would do it...
"HEEEEEeeeeelllllppppp..." You cried out as you tumbled through the wormhole, vanishing from the world as you know it. You felt yourself drifting sideways through upside down planes. You were tossed, stretched, and squeezed through the space between atoms. Your body was warped and your features altered. For a fleeting eternity, you saw yourself reflected across thousands of different possibilities. One grew larger and closer than the rest, filling your world until it became your reality. "Whoooahoooooof!" You let out a grunt as you landed flat on your face on the hard rocky surface. Your whole body ached from your little journey sideways through space, but at least you were still in one piece and relatively unharmed. "Ugh, I think I'm gonna barf..." You settled your cap on top of your head as you climbed to your feet on wobbly knees, taking in your surroundings.
Even without that bizarre trip you had went on, it was plain to see you were somewhere completely new. The lush, jungle pathway you had been traveling on was now replaced by a rocky purple surface extending in all directions. It was weird, hollow and pockmarked by holes. It reminded you of a combee's honeycomb for some reason. You pulled out your pokedex, ready to receive some information about where in the world you had landed, when you were interrupted by a soft, silky voice.
"Phero...Pheromosa..."
The voice sent shivers down your spine. You had never heard anything so...soft and sensual. It poured in your ears like warm syrup and made you feel all tingly. You nearly started popping a stiffy just from hearing it. Looking in the direction of the voice, you got the shock of your life. Relaxing against a section of the honeycomb rock, reclining like a supermodel was a pokemon unlike you had ever seen before. Her body was white and segmented, with ridiculously long legs that ended in feelers that looked like high heels. She was scandalously skinny, with long white hair that rivaled the Aether Foundation President and two long antennae that were easily as long as her body. The moment you saw, you were transfixed by her alien beauty. There was one other important factor about the mysterious pokemon that you noticed.
Either she was big enough to put Groudon to shame, or you had shrunk!
"Pheromosa..." The leviathan bug pokemon turned its head in your direction. It had to be your imagination, but you were sure that those wide, green eyes of hers were focused squarely on you. There was now ay a giantess like her could tell a speck like you were here, right?...right? As if in answer to your question the insectile beauty rose from her languid position, balancing on her tiny feet as she began sexily strutting across her lair, passing right over you. Desperate to know who or what you were dealing with, you aimed the pokedex in her direction.
"No Pokemon Data Found." was the dex's mechanical reply. That means...this was an entirely new species of pokemon! That YOU had discovered! The joy of this revelation made you momentarily forget your surroundings, dancing a happy jig. You were so lost in your excitement that you had to dive out of the way as the "Pheromosa" as you had decided to call her based on her speech nearly stepped on you, her delicate foot missing you by millimeters. laying on your back, you couldn't help but sneak a glance upward to try and peek under Pheromosa's "skirt" as she strutted across the room, before turning your gaze away and quickly admonishing yourself. This was no time to be gawking, you had to do something to get out of here and tell the world about your discovery! The only question was what exactly you were going to do.
Thankfully, Pheromosa was way ahead of you.
