The Evil Queen possessed great magical powers. Rumpelstiltskin, the dark one, taught him everything he knew. But even the most powerful spells have limits, Regina could not resurrect her beloved, who died because of Snow White.
You remember some times when Regina told this phrase "Evil isn't born, it's made."
When she lost love, the only idea that crossed her mind was revenge. Cora, her mother, killed her boyfriend, and she, with the help of Rumpelstiltskin, took revenge on her by imprisoning her in Wonderland. However, she believes that the only person responsible for the death of her love is Snow White.
She tried in a thousand ways to eliminate her, until one day she showed her the boyfriend's grave. Regina had always lied to him, saying that he had run away from her so as not to make her feel guilty. At that moment she reproached her for her naivety, revealing to her mother a secret that she had sworn to keep. Then Regina proposed a deal to Snow White: eat a poisoned apple in exchange for the prince's safety. Snow White accepted, she fell into a deep sleep and was awakened only by true love's kiss.
However the queen did not want to give up, she fought against Maleficent to reclaim the dark curse. To activate it she needed to sacrifice the heart of the person she loved most in the world, her father. She no longer wanted to go back.
In the real world, in Storybrooke, she is the mayor of the town, everyone is under her control, they can't escape, they don't remember their past, they do nothing but repeat their actions every day. The clock is stopped, a sign that time is not passing. Regina is happy with her victory, yet she feels empty in her heart. To fill the void she asked Rumplestiltskin to help her find a child to adopt. She named her Henry Mills, in honor of her father. She later discovered that he was the son of Emma Swan, daughter of Snow White and the Prince. Henry, at the age of ten, found her mother and brought her back to Storybrooke.
You don't know how it happened, but one day you woke up in Storybrooke, and you saw Regina, you don't know whether to get her attention or not. You know she will redeem herself, but you don't know if she has already done so.
