Eventually, Marshadow managed to reach a tree with lots of berries in it. You could assume this was the reason she came out here: either she was hungry, or she wanted to provide food for you. You felt her grip on you tighten, and she lifted her other arm and punched the tree. Berries fell out and landed on the ground, and Marshadow finally let you go. She set you on the ground and pointed at the berries.
“Thanks,” you said. “I was feeling a bit hungry, actually.”
You picked up one berry, which was much bigger than any berry you’d ever eaten, and ate the entire thing. Meanwhile, Marshadow was eating some berries too. You noticed her eyes glancing all around. Most likely, she was looking for any danger. But she also frequently gazed at you. You tried to avoid gazing back at her, since you and her had already spent a lot of time silently staring at each other, and it was making you uncomfortable.
You thought back to her behavior in the den, and you weren’t sure what to think of it. It seemed like Marshadow had been trying to talk, but she didn’t. Was she mute, or was she just too shy to talk to you? If she was just shy, hopefully you’d be able to get her to open up and talk with you in the future.
You ate one more berry, and you felt full. Marshadow noticed, and gently picked you up in her hand again. With you secure in her fist, she began walking again, still careful to avoid the sunlight. You wanted to ask where she was taking you, but you knew she wouldn’t reply. So you just waited to see what happened next.
