This choice: Anna is still dressed like Anna • Go Back...Chapter #8Anna is still dressed like Anna by: PX114 You emerged back out into the living room to see “Anna” sitting on one of the couches, texting on “her” phone. Adam had changed out of the uniform and into a pair of jeans and a red top, but nobody looking at him would think of him as anything other than a girl still.
You glared at your stepmother as she followed you into the room. “What’s going on?” You demanded. “I thought Adam could go back to normal once I agreed.” She shook her head, looking solemn. “I did say I’d let Anna slowly fade away.” She stated. “I want to make sure you won’t go back on your side of the deal, after all. Anna’s going to the mall with some of her friends today, where she’ll let them know she’s going to be going back home this summer as Adam returns from the study abroad program.”
You had to admit, her argument made a certain amount of sense, and nodded slowly. Adam, for his part, didn’t seem to mind. You glanced over at him and he shrugged. “The girls on the squad are actually really nice.” He said, a slight look of embarrassment crossing his face. “I want to go back to being me again….but I’d feel bad if I didn’t at least say goodbye. Or, at least, who they think I am said it.” He shrugged again.
You turned back towards your stepmother. “So what are we going to be doing?” You asked. She grinned.
“Who do you think is going to be driving them?” She asked. “Anna and her friends will help you pick out a whole new wardrobe. Meanwhile, I’ll be making some…adjustments to your room.”
Roughly an hour later, you and Adam were in the car heading over to pick up his friends Haley and Erica. Your stepmother had given you a crash course on how to walk, talk, and act like a girl. “Don’t worry too much, Melissa.” She said with a wink. “Anna will help you if you mess up.”
As you drove, you went over what she and Anna had told you in your head over, and over, and over again, using repetition to try and ignore how nervous you felt. You knew you were a good actor, but this would be a whole other level of difficulty.
Adam leaned forwards from the backseat. “Relax, Melissa.” He said. My friends are nice. I’ll help you out if you need it, but you won’t. You’ve got this.” You glanced back at him and smiled. You had to admit, hearing that from him made you feel better.
Haley and Erica were waiting outside of a house about fifteen minutes’ drive away from the mall you were headed to, and they seemed excited to meet you when Adam introduced you as his “older sister, Melissa.”
“Anna mentioned you just came home from college.” Erica asked. “How was it? I can’t wait to go, it’ll be so cool getting to live on my own for a while!” She asked excitedly.
You answered questions about your time in college from “Anna”’s friends during the drive to the mall, even telling them a few stories about parties you’d been to. Time passed quickly, and before you knew it you were pulling into the mall’s parking lot.
The girls wasted no time getting out of the car and hurrying towards the entrance, “Anna” briefly turning around and flashing you a proud grin as she followed them. You stopped for a moment to take another breath, and slowly a smile spread across your face. You can do this, you thought to yourself, and followed “Anna” and her friends inside. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
