James was assured that the punishment wasn't cruel, or at least didn't inflict any physical pain. He could hardly believe the generosity of the offer. Having to keep himself quiet, as he wanted to blurt out over his lawyer that 'Yes. Yes! He would take the deal.', he would take the rehabilitation course, it lasted only one week, rather that prison for a year.
He latched onto the one week. With that quick a turn around, he could certainly keep control of his empire. If he spent a full year away from the business, his reputation would be erased, and his lieutenants would be secure in their advanced roles.
He was barely listening to the judge as he outlined the rehabilitation process. He did pick out the occasional word, treatment and change featured prominently.
Finally, James' agitation becomes too much for his representative. She sighs, "Would you like to accept the treatment and be back on the streets in a week?" she asks.
The judge leaned forward, as he fell silent listening for James' expected reply.
