Chapter #39

No Longer A Triad

    by: HyuugaLord19 Author IconMail Icon
By far, the thing Jeanne felt the worst about was forcing Weiss to be in love with her. The physical changes she'd made to herself and to the world, those were one thing. Same with giving herself a confidence boost. But altering other peoples' minds? That smacked a bit much of outright mind control, which was a slippery slope to villainy.

Jeanne wasn't stupid, either now or as Jaune. She knew that Weiss would never really have given her - or him - a chance without the Book. Weiss had high standards, after all, and Jeanne, quite simply, didn't meet them. And while she enjoyed the memories of being a triad with Weiss and Pyrrha, knowing that that only happened because of her muddling with Weiss's mind left a sour taste in her mouth.

So, while the others were busy teasing Ruby, Jeanne surreptitiously pulled out the book, and crossed out the first entry she'd made as Jaune: "Weiss Schnee is in love with me".

At that moment, Weiss walked into the cafeteria, her breasts bouncing slightly even within her reinforced bra. Without giving Jeanne so much as a glance, she sat down with a huff.

"There you are, Weiss Cream!" Yang said with a grin, earning a growl from the blancette. "Where were you?"

Weiss sighed, her annoyance remaining, but from a different source. "Just had to deal with my father's weekly attempt to pull me out of Beacon."

"Again? Seriously, he just doesn't quit, does he?" Yang noted, her smile replaced with a frown. "You're 18 now, you're a legal adult, he can't force you to leave."

"He knows, which is why he's trying to guilt me into leaving on my own," Weiss groaned. "Not that he has much to work with."

Jeanne frowned. "Maybe you should just ignore his calls from now on? I mean, it's not like you plan on doing what he says, right?"

Weiss considered. "True. I think I'll do that. Not a bad idea, Jeanne." She smacked her lips a couple times. "That felt odd to say."

Pyrrha frowned at this, as did Ruby. "Jeanne's full of good ideas, Weiss," the younger girl protested. "You should quit being mean to her."

Weiss opened her mouth, but then saw the half-lidded glare Pyrrha was giving her, and reconsidered what she was about to say. "You're right, Ruby." She turned to Jeanne. "I'm sorry, Jeanne, that was undeserved. You're a genuinely nice girl." She paused. "A bit of a dorky girl, but nice."

Pyrrha's glare narrowed, but then vanished as Jeanne chuckled. "Well, I can't deny I'm a dork," the blonde knight admitted. "I mean, serenading you with a guitar? Looking back, that was so bad."

The others giggled a bit. "Yeah, your dance moves are sick, Jeanne," Nora said. "Your singing? Not so much."

Weiss smiled, then looked at the others. "So, what did I miss?"

"Just Ruby having a slight malfunction with her food," Yang grinned, causing Ruby to groan.

As Weiss began giving her partner the 'I told you so' speech, Jeanne reflected that this felt more natural. She then glanced at Pyrrha. Thankfully, removing Weiss as one of her girlfriends had not affected Pyrrha's status, so the two were still romantic with each other. They were considered the most wholesome couple of all the students at Beacon at the moment.

Jeanne felt that this was a reality she could get used to.
