“Forget that,” said Mesprit. “I think I’m gonna keep you!”
You stared at her. Since Mesprit was still manipulating your emotions, you were unable to feel shocked, but you still knew this didn’t sound good.
“What do you mean?” you asked. “You’re not going to kidnap me, are you?”
“Kidnapping is not the right word,” Mesprit said. “I don’t intend to keep you trapped with me for the rest of your life. But I understand things are very dangerous for you at this size. For the time being, I want to keep you with me so I can protect you.”
“Protect me?” you asked.
“Of course! I have a soft spot for humans. Also...” Mesprit held you close to her face, crossing her eyes a bit to look at you. You could see your reflection in her big gold eyes. “Looking at you more closely, I believe I recognize you. You live in the nearby town, correct?”
“I do,” you said.
“I thought so. I’ve seen you before. I’ve been watching over you all your life, believe it or not. Everyone in that town is under my protection, since you live next to my lake. Of course, I’ve only rarely revealed myself to the people of the town, but I’ve been watching over all of you just the same.”
That was a shock. You’d heard stories that Mesprit was like a guardian for the region around the lake, but you never knew she was actually keeping an eye on you and the other people in the town. It made you feel happy to know you had a powerful Pokemon like this watching over you (and you could actually feel happy because Mesprit had only turned off your negative emotions). But there was still something that confused you.
“I’m happy to hear you’ve been watching over me,” you said. “But if you like humans, and you want to help people in need, why don’t you want to help me find Mew and grow back to normal? I appreciate that you want to keep me safe, but I’d rather get back to normal size.”
Why does Mesprit want to keep you with her?
Option 1: She developed a crush on you after watching over you for so many years, and she wants you to stay with her in the hopes that you’ll return her affections.
Option 2: She thinks being tiny could actually be a fun experience for you, so she wants you to stay tiny for a while and give it a chance, before deciding if you want to return to normal (and she promises to keep you safe while you’re tiny).
Option 3: She’s been wanting to teach the local wild Pokemon to not be afraid of humans. Since you’re tiny and harmless, she wants to introduce them to you, so they can get accustomed to interacting with a human without fear of being hurt or captured.
