After making a quick breakfast of eggs and toast which you woof down in seconds you realize that you have no urgent plans today. No texts on your phone, both your parents are out at work and Ariadne is still at college which makes today a chill lazy day where you don't have to worry about Lillian prowling about and her doughy cheeks "accidently" smothering you while she laughs and passes gas before taking her time to get off. You also are not stressed about Jen and thinking how to advance things with or even if that is what you want to do. It may sound silly coming from a 18 year old kid on his first day of summer break but you really needed a "me" day. Sure on the outside you are living a life many guys at school hate you for, a bonafide harem protag but they didn't see all the suffering it causes or even what it smells like.
With renewed energy you get yourself set up in the living room deciding on playing the new open world rpg you had an eye on, after spending nearly an hour making your perfectly crafted character, Sir Blaise the Brave is ready to embark on his quest. It was around this time that the door opened and all the hairs on your back stood up wondering who. Who was it gonna be this time to barge in and ruin your day but when you saw it was not in fact one of the many women in your life who are either too clingy or too clumsy and should be labeled as walking hazards you sigh in relief. Plus you were happy with who you saw since you and him don't seem to cross paths too much due to his hectic workload.
"Hey dad, how are you doing?"
You call out pausing the game, Raphael wears a smile that brightens up his weary face. He shared the same sentiment as you hoping that this summer break would lower the walls around them and have them share some solid father-son time. Lord knows you have more mother-son time then most.Just getting off his shift at the Research Center he was looking to chill and watch the game on but sitting next to his son as he has his digital adventures was even better. Watching him play he did see what everyone always told him how Blaise is almost just like him at that age, he hoped his son had better luck with the ladies but depending how you see it he may have too much luck. Sure back in the way back Raphael was no stranger to overly attentive ladies as well but he fears his son has his luck twice fold. Oh well no such thing as too much of a good thing right? Plus he was at that age where this is a blessing, the way he and Miriam raised the boy he had no doubt when the right lady is found and they are ready he would do the right thing.
As your father was getting all mushy and reminiscing watching you kill rats with a stick you were also on your own trip of sorts. This was the second to last summer you will be home like you used to, only one more time after this you will be around mom and dad like this. Sure college isn't prison and you would visit when you can like Ariadne does but having a whole summer with your dad is something that won't be in books really. You pause the game and set down the controller, your mind swirling with ideas, any way for you and he to spend more time together.
Then an idea popped in your head.
1. You ask if you can intern with him at his job at the Research Center, you know he does programming work there and Zuleima, your mothers and fathers old friend is one of the head eggheads there. In fact she is working on some big hush hush deal project so when you offer to help Raphael is glad for the offer.
2. You ask him about his days back when he was your age and what life was like for him. Oh boy your dad tells you about a summer long ago, when he was 18 and about to start dating your mom but still single and all the other ladies, most of whom are your friends' moms were all over him. You’d think he would be bragging by the way he said but looking back it looked like his eyes twitched in terror like this story was gonna bring back some old stored away trauma.
3. Wanting to get the scoop on your dad but feeling too embarrassed to ask him directly you wake up the next day and head to Sheila’s home, you knew that back in the day she was close to your parents. But as you show up on her doorstep and ask her to reminisce about the man she used to love while you, almost a copy of him, are sitting right in front of her can she hold back?
4. Wanting to get the scoop on your dad but feeling too embarrassed to ask him directly you wake up the next day and head to Dolores' home, you knew that back in the day she was close to your parents. Dolores was a very close friend of your mom's and, being the oldest in the group, she saw them as younger siblings, your father being like the little brother she never had otherwise. She also loves spending quality time with you, considering you the closest thing to a son of her own though she can be quite playful and teasing at times. What will come of this visit?
