Chapter #10

Can't Hold On

    by: Zexo87 Author IconMail Icon
As the Chang girl walked down the hall, still on the hunt for her lost butterfly net, the tiny passenger she unknowingly carried under her shirt held onto her for dear life. If he lost his grip now, he would start plummeting and end up who knows where. Still, even with his life literally hanging in the balance, it was not lost on the twelve-year-old boy just what kind of position he was currently in.

Here he was, shrunken to the size of an ant and grabbing on tightly to a girl's chest. His face blushed as red as a stop sign as he pushed back the urge to panic and let go. This was no time to worry too much about decency. Even so, however, if Lincoln ever did manage to get Sid's attention, he decided that he would leave out this part of the story altogether.

"Okay, now that that's settled, I'd better start climbing," he told himself. Lincoln began making his ascent up Sid's chest to try and make it to her ear. Though, the bumpy ride caused by her movement made it especially challenging. Lincoln was not the most athletic boy around, so he was having a hard time even putting one hand over the other to try and work his way up.

Things got even trickier when Sid suddenly tripped over a lose fold in the rug and nearly lost her footing. This caused Lincoln to temporarily lose his grip and slide down Sid's chest and end up somewhere on her belly area. He mentally cursed at having lost so much ground, but still pressed onward.

Outside, Sid suddenly started to feel something on her stomach. Lincoln was still trying to climb her body, but he was having a tough time maintaining his grip. Sid started to giggle as whatever was on her belly was really starting to tickle her.

The vibration from Sid's laughter naturally only made it harder for Lincoln to hold on. The more he struggled, the more this mountain of a girl kept laughing. Almost as if she was laughing at his struggling. Pretty soon, the tiny boy's grip failed entirely and he found himself falling down the front of Sid's shirt even further.

The only thing that prevented Lincoln from falling all the way to the ground was him managing to grab ahold of Sid's belly button. Using whatever strength he had left, Lincoln pulled himself up and laid down on his back to catch his breath. He decided to use Sid's belly button as makeshift cave of sorts to rest and catch his breath before continuing his efforts to be noticed. "Man. Why does Sid have to be so ticklish?"

But Lincoln's sense of peace didn't last long as while he was lying in his resting spot, his eardrums were suddenly assaulted by what sounded like the roar of a t-rex. He covered his ears to protect his hearing from the cacophonous noise.

"Okay, okay, I hear you. Time for a snack break," Sid said to her hungry growling stomach before starting to make her way to her family's kitchen for a snack.
