Heidi snuggled up to mummy on the sofa, rolls of fat forming on her little belly, hidden by her slightly tight shirt. As usual, her brothers were all staying late at school for extracurricular sports. Today it was basketball; yesterday it had been tennis. In ten minutes they'd all need picking up, but right now Heidi and mummy had the house all to themselves.
"Hey pumpkin," mummy said, gently rubbing Heidi's slightly rounded arm, feeling her weight against her hip, "you want some more?" She asked, gesturing to the now empty bowl of ice-cream lying next next to her.
Heidi nodded.
"What do we say?"
"Yes please Mummy" Heidi sleepily replied. She wasn't really hungry; she hadn't been when Mum offered her the first bowl as they sat down half an hour ago and switched the TV on, but who says no to ice-cream?
"Good girl" Mummy said with a smile, giving her a little peck on the forehead as she handed her the bowl. "Might as well finish it all", she said, serving Heidi three generous spoonfuls.
Heidi grabbed the sprinkles off the coffee table. The sprinkles gave the ice-cream such a satisfying crunch in her mouth, she thought, as she enjoyed the cold sensation of it making it's way down her throat and into her belly.
By the time she had finished absentmindedly spooning it down it was time to go.
"Ok pumpkin, I've got to go and pick up the boys now," said mum, "do you want to come with me, or do you want to stay home and do your homework?"
