Heidi gave Mark the diary and told him he can write one thing. Anything he wanted. Then she left him alone.
Mark picked up the book with the intention of removed the line that said that he wanted to be a girl. But after thinking about it for a second, he realized that he did want to be a girl. He had always felt that way. There wasn't any reason to erase that part. It had always been how he truly felt.
Still, Heidi would allow him to do anything he wanted. This was his only chance to be a girl. Mark picked up a pen and wrote in Heidi's diary, "I want to be the prettiest girl in school."
Who the prettist girl in school was is a matter of opinion. Mark became who he thought was the prettiest girl in school, Allison Kramer. Mark didn't know this girl well. Allison was a year older than he was and wouldn't give him the time of day.
The diary worked it magic when when it was done, Mark had become Allison.
When Heidi returned she looked upon a stranger. The girl in front of her didn't look anythiing like Mark or anyone in the family. But she was wearing the apparel that Mark had been wearing earlier.
