The next morning, Wyatt decided to finally confront Aiden about his use of anabolics. Wyatt waited till after Aiden finished his massive pile of scrambled eggs.
"Aiden, listen, I know you're injecting yourself with... stuff, I know you're using." he said in a trembling voice.
Aiden paused for a second, apparently taken back by Wyatt's sudden mention of steroids. There was a moment of awkward silence. Aiden looked up, with a dismayed, disappointed look in his eyes.
"Listen Wyatt, i know you're probably upset about what you perceive to be a real dangerous thing. Society tells us to hate steroids, its always in the news, and its like a witch hunt to find the users in professional sports." he began in a calm tone.
"But the truth is, is that the media is showing one side of the story, they're biased and spreading misconceptions about people who use steriods and its effects. Very few people even know what anabolics do, much less what it is and its actual danger."
"There are always these accounts of kids who get their hands on roids and go fuck themselves up with them- because they're 16 and dont know what they're doing. The truth is, yes, steroids can be dangerous, if not used properly, or abused, but if used correctly, methodically with medical knowledge, they are no more dangerous than lots of prescription medicine. No more dangerous than those anti-depressants people abuse. "
Wyatt was unconvinced.
"Listen, I know what I'm doing, I know how these things work, and while I appreciate your concern, Man, I've done my research, and I've done this before, and I'm probably the healthiest guy on the block. And do you know why? Its because i know what I'm doing. So to be honest with you, you need to understand that I know how to take care of myself. I have experience, and I don't think what I'm doing is in anyway more harmful than going out and eating McDonalds"
"But it can't be healthy man" Wyatt interjected.
"Dude, being fat isn't healthy, being obese is really unhealthy, yet so many people in this country are fat, and no one tells them that what they're doing is unhealthy. I can promise you, you take some fatass and compare them with me, I might be using, but I'm a lot, overall, healthier than the guy who's 300 pounds and 40% body fat. They'll have more health problems and die a lot sooner than I will!"
"So I appreciate your concern man" Aiden continued "but you really need to know that your beliefs and feelings about this all come from the biases of the media, and stereotypes that are just not real. That's not how it works man, so just don't judge me for something you don't know anything about. Ok? Is that fair?"
"Uh...Ok" Wyatt said in a low tone. After all, Aiden's a smart guy, and Wyatt was, in fact, totally ignorant about what Steroids meant. It would probably best then to just leave Aiden alone about it then and not bring it up again. Maybe Aiden was right? maybe steroids weren't the evil they had been made out to be by the media....
