In Sailor Moon Universe, the story focuses on Usagi Tsukino, who in a past life was Princess Serenity and in the future would be the protector ruler of the Solar System along with the other Sailor Scouts.

When she is not fighting the forces of evil as Sailor Moon, Usagi/Serena is sort of an airhead and a clutz. In the future, she is said to be destined to marry Tuxedo Mask, aka Chiba Mamoru, who was renamed Darien in the English version of the show. The pair would eventually have a daughter who would travel back in time to meet them, who took on the name Mini Moon, aka Chibiusa or Rini in the English version of the show.
Rini did not believe that Serena/Usagi was her mother at first, though she recognized her dad, Darien/Mamoru, and caused issues with them. Unknown to Rini, that was alright with Serena, who was very open sexually. As Rini prevented her from spending any time with Darien, Serena turned to someone else for some fun.
