How should I handle the second story for the TCG path?

Poll Question:
This is a sequel to "Regional Journeys" Open in new Window.. Mainly for those who voted for Mark, Ronald, and Mint to journey, but all votes are appreciated.

In the games, Unova has a second story which follows new characters. The anime did away that, simply having the sequel Gym Leaders appear alongside the original. Meanwhile, the manga had the original duo return to stop Team Plasma for good. How should I handle this for the card game inspired path?

Alternate World
Make two different paths. One where they face the original story, and one where they face the sequel story.

Shared Story
Like the anime, have elements from both stories occur.

Returning
Have them return to Unova when they hear that Ghetsis is back. But would they face the improved Gym Leaders, or just the new one?
