Car crash, roadkill,
Tragedy on tv,
Bright jewel polished well,
The sun sparking on the sea.

Ghost story, witchcraft,
A tale of beyond this mortal veil,
A festering wound, a mysterious sound,
The blackened sight of midnight...

Fascination,
Fear or elation,
Calls my eye, beckons "Draw nigh,
hear my silence, my shriek, my sigh."

The scab I grab,
making blood run fresh,
proves to me visually
that life yet courses through my flesh.
