Goodbye

A poem I wrote after having to say goodbye to a loved one

Goodbyes have always been tough.
But what do you do,
When goodbye simply isn’t enough?

When the words just don’t come out
For your thoughts are filled with doubt
That dreaded tomorrow is now today
There’s a feeling you just can’t convey

Every minute seems to fly
All you can do is sit and cry
There’s not much more that you can take
You feel your heart’s about to break

I’m still not sure why,
But I don’t think I’ll ever be ready
to say goodbye.
