I CRY

Weeping for the world

I cried a tear, yet no one cared
Was lost in a world that no one shared
Empty and lonely, I reached out for a friend
Wondered when the suffering would end

Looked at the world and how it was passing me by,
And another river of tears came to my eyes
No one appeared to care about the beauty destroyed
When I issued words of outrage, they became annoyed

I cried more tears when observing a friend’s pain
Wept for the dreams she’d forgotten again
How I wish peace and hope would prevail
That the road leading to them were the only trail

I cry another tear
I cry a river of tears
