A poem in memory of the 32 Virginia Tech victims, senselessly slain on April 16, 2007. |
Oh, how we recall the fallen! The ones so senselessly slain Or the noble actions of a professor Perished by a killer’s reign. ‘Twas on the 16th of April That 32 were taken The horror, grief and disbelief Our nation awoke, shaken. The lessons from this tragedy One we won’t readily forget. So fragile is life; futility of such acts Stain our nation with regret. I offer heartfelt condolences And hope for those left behind And enduring, comforting words Oh, so few and hard to find. Recall the memory of the slain Place them in their final resting place Know deep within your heart Of God’s mercy, ever-loving grace. |
