Caught off guard

Doing ordinary things can create extraordinary moments.

i was cleaning house
chasing dog hairs and dust
and your striped cotton pullover
was tossed onto the back of the green chair
i snatched it up
to see if it needed washing
so i sniffed it
and for a microsecond time jolted
because my world became only you
with the smell of your body
and aftershave
holding me very, very still.
