Title is prompt. Shakespearean Sonnet written for Poetry League battle. |
| She gazed across at the forbidden pool Wishing her parents would allow her near. She had no understanding of their rule And they did not ever explain their fear. A time came when she simply had to know. She slowly sauntered in the moonless night And with the water close she saw a glow. Silently still the pool offered no fright. Water rippled and the glow seemed to spread. Amidst the shine she thought she saw a shape And then her soul slowly filled up with dread. Her frozen feet would not let her escape. Her bloodless corpse was found in her backyard By parents who knew they'd let down their guard. |
