A heart can heal

This one is from the heart, a letter to my ex-boyfriend.

A heart can heal.

You didn’t see how much I grieved
the day we said goodbye.
You’ll never know that I believed
that I would surely die.

And as I watched you walk away
My heart was broke in two,
But I knew you couldn’t stay
After all that we’d been through.

It’s taking time to heal
all the hurt our love had caused,
to re-learn how to feel
and re-start a life that paused.

Each day now I grow stronger,
I start to live once more.
I cry for you no longer
and my soul begins to soar.

My future’s looking brighter,
The pain’s now in the past.
And I know now I’m a fighter
and that my heart can last.
