A poem about the French Revolution.Pro-Louis XVI and against Robespierre Reign of Terror. |
| As I write this declaration of sentiment I feel the lightest cut of a blade upon my neck For should this fall into the hands of Robespierre My head shall go, bloodshed everywhere But listen, my Frenchmen! A call of rebellion do I send For our families we must defend Or a life in terror will they spend Oh Louis, brave Louis! How honorably you did meet your fate Please! Do not wait at heaven's gate For you died at the hands of madness and hate Have you all lost sight of your destiny? When the Bastille you did take After your Tennis Court Oath you did make Did you fight for the murder we see today? Watch closely, France, this dangerous man For in sight there is no end If Robespierre does what he intends To Hell all of France shall soon descend |
