Coffee and Chocolate

My favorite breakfast on a winter morning

Chocolate
coffee hot from
a carafe
makes morning laugh
with dawn’s joy
and awakens
my soul to daybreak’s passion.

Chocolate
raisins hidden
in oatmeal,
frozen yogurt
and almonds,
with coffee sipped
from a white porcelain cup.

Chocolate
laughter echoes
memories
of seasons past
and future
accompanied
by cups of hot black coffee.
