Light Within The Dark

      I carry so much
Fear, anger, pain, suffering
  Darkness fills my soul

                                                                                  I brought them upon myself
                                                                                      To keep others free

                                          You comfort my hurts
                                      Calming, relaxing, soothing
                                            You light up my life

      So often I seem
All alone in the dark night
Nothing brings comfort

                                                                                    The Soldier stands watch
                                                                                      Alone in the starry night
                                                                                        Guarding his brothers

                                              With you I stand down
                                        Danger does not threaten here
                                                I can rest in peace

    My life feels empty
Loneliness is my one friend
    My only constant

                                                                                      My brothers need me
                                                                                To cover them as they move
                                                                                        Always protecting

                                              Wanting and needing
                                          To feel wanted and needed
                                              You give me purpose

From darkness we come
Our Alpha and Omega
  To darkness we go

                                                                                            I chose to do this
                                                                                          A guardian of freedom
                                                                                          First, last and always

                                                  I lay down my gun
                                            To run in the grass with you
                                                In the summer warmth

                                                No more shall I bear
                                            The weight of being alone
                                                  With you in my life
