Our Fathers

Fathers  are wonderful people
too little understood
and we do not sing their praises
half as often as we should

For fathers  struggle daily
to be the perfect man
as protector and provider
initiator of the plan

Perhaps that is the reason
that they give us all the notion
that fathers  are not subject
to the slightest of emotion

But, if you look inside his heart
where no one ever sees
there stands the ever presence
of that sturdy family tree

Providing love and nuturing
in many different ways
he merits loving compliments
and accolades of praise

Like a watchful angel
he's our guardian and guide
when we think we're all alone
he shows up at our side
