Introducting Natalie... |
"I've got a chore for you to do." He whispered this so quietly that I had to lean in to be able to hear him properly. He took my chin in his hands ever so gently and looked me in the eyes. I swear his eyes were blinding me. I had never seen any so vivid and deeply colored as his. Deep green as the outer sea where ships fear to go with blue towards the irises, sky blue as the clearest day. I had never seen anyone with both of these colors in their eyes and it be natural. It was though. I'd been with him long enough to know this. "What's the chore? What else can I do for you that I haven't already done?" I'm 17 years old and have been with him for the last 2 years. Lucky that I look older than I am or he would have been in a hell of a lot of trouble. My name? Natalie de Witt. His? I only know him as J.T. He never told me his full name and I really didn't care. Didn't matter much to me. He got me out of an abusive household where my step-dad used me as a punching bag and as his own sex toy. Even being on the streets would have been preferable to that. "Your chore? Simple. You have to now earn your keep." I give him a 'what the fuck look'. "Don't look at me that way. You know I don't mean like that. You know what you've been trained for? Well, now you have to do it. Simple as that. Tomorrow we start. Tonight is still ours to do with as we wish." With that said he pulled me close to him and started to slowly undress me as the sun faded over the horizon and the moon started to show her face in the distance. I woke up the next day to a note pinned on my pillow. "My Dearest Natalie: I had to go out of town on business. You know I told you this day would come. The day when we could no longer publicly be together due to risks to you. You knew that people would come looking for me. Even before I agreed to have you along I warned you of the risks involved in being with me. I have tried to make sure that you have all of the tools you need to survive without me but now you must do me a favor. Do you remember the little chore that I mentioned but never specified? You have two weeks to do it. For specifics you need to follow these directions carefully. See it as almost being a scavenger hunt. I know you like those. First: You have to put on the gray striped hoodie with the wolf head on it that I got you last Christmas. I know you have it still because I washed it for you yesterday. Next you need to go downstairs, walk 6 blocks and take the first right then left you see and go to Bar Uno, the bar on the highway where we first met. I remember that day vividly. You were wearing the cutest blue gray mini skirt and halter top, trying to look older than your years. I knew you were the one. I digress. My apologizes. Ok: Go into the bar and sit at the back. I know you can get in since you have before. Sit there and wait for an older man to come in wearing a pair of dark jeans and a wolf sweater that matches yours. He will have the rest of the directions for you. You are not to do any of this until tomorrow. Today you relax and take care of you. I will find a way to contact you. I promise. All of my love and best wishes to you, Until we meet again (and we shall) J.T." I stared down at the note and wished that a hole would open up in the ground and swallow me down. How could I survive without him? Seriously I had no idea. I'd always had him around for protection and for company. Never before had I been on my own. And what was this chore he had for me to do? I could only wonder until tomorrow. --Prompts for this chapter were "chore" "bar" and "hole". Either the words or their meanings.-- WC: 733 for Chapter One |
