A poetry concerning the struggle with depression and how medicine alleviates it.
Bottled Hope

Little pebbles of hope,
These pills hold my happiness,
And my sorrow,
And my future,
And my strength.
What love couldn’t prevent,
What smiles couldn’t hide,
These pills get me out of bed,
And get me dressed,
And make me walk,
And make me face the day.
I swallow these pills, one every day,
Letting them dissolve and flood my mind.
And with them I swallow my despair.
And one pill can bring me back to life,
And one handful can make me go away forever.

Blue and green, these pills are,
Such vibrant colors, for such a dark cause.
And they keep me up at night,
And they make my stomach sick,
And yet they keep me from destructing myself.
These pills give me hope,
Something I couldn’t muster on my own.
And all I want is to live,
And to love,
And to be happy again.
These pills are…everything.
