Chapter one

“What do you want to hear as a bedtime story?” Asked a young lady looking down at a small boy with black hair that fell to his ears, he also had the most handsome purple eyes that cause his white skin to stand out in combination with the small blue stone that hung from his neck on a golden necklace. The young lady looked over to the second bed in the room and saw a little girl with blond hair and greenish sliver eyes staring intently up into own. They both had been fed, given a bath and now were tucked in and ready for bed. “How about a story about your parent’s auntie Kiki?” both children asked at the same time as if they had practices it for hours and hours.
Kiki sat down in a chair between both children and looked around the room. It was a combination for half pink on the little girl’s side which was clean with every one of her dolls having a special place and her being surround, if not possible smothered by what looked like thousands of stuffed animals in all shape, sizes, and species. The other side of the room was blue and covered in a mess made up of small wooden cars and trains peaces along with clothing all over the floor. It amazing how different little boys and girls are even thought they are the same age.
A little impatient cough from the little boy brought her attention back to the fact that they were still waiting for their bed time story. She cleared her through and began to speak.
“This story begins over 22 years ago in this very town before the great fire! It begins with your father Soul. Solace” said Kiki looking at the little boy.

Chapter two
Twenty two years early….

Soul stood in the center of the practice field, which usually was filled with soldiers practicing their different fighting styles, but today was empty expect for him and a older man that when by the name of Reilly. Both stood at opposing ends of the field staring at the others eyes. “Ready” asked Reilly without even taking is golden eyes off of Soul. “Yes” said Soul placing his hand on the hilt of his sword and unsheathing it. He had done this a thousand times but somehow this time the sword felt lighter than it ever had, like it was made of air.
Even thought Soul always seemed to lose to Reilly this time it was going to be different he didn’t know why but he could feel it in the air and the Earth. With this new found confidence he took his stance, bending his knees a little and standing on the balls of his feet making his legs lose like a coiled snake ready to strike without warning at any moment and as he did he brought his sword up above his head and rolled it in his hand before letting his arm and the sword lay loosely at his side.
Meanwhile Reilly stood watching all this showoff behavior knowing that Soul was getting ready to strike for he had taught to Soul how to loosen the body in order to have more perfect harmony between one’s own chi and will and the sword.
Soul never took his eyes off the old man’s yellow eyes to not telegraph his movement and then without warning or a moment hesitation he lunged across the field six feet at time. When he moved to attack, Soul thought that he had Reilly this time. Soul let his sword hang high then he turned his blade to the left and then he brought it down in one swift movement but to his surprise he did not feel the blade hit skin and bone instead Reilly had been able to bring his staff up so quickly that Souls sword was thrown out of his hands. Then Reilly brought the back end of the staff around into the back of Souls head which cause his body to fall forward and then Reilly hit Soul in the stomach so hard that his body went into the air and land face down on the cold hard ground.
“Come on you wimp I didn’t hit you that hard. If this had been a real fight you would be dead by now” Said Reilly as he took a step to the Souls lifeless body spared eagle on the ground. The sound of the footstep brought Soul back to reality and he blinked his eyes only to see Reilly stepping forward. Soul muttered lowly to himself “retriva” and with that his sword was back in his hand which he kept speared lifeless in the position it was when he had hit the unforgiving ground.
Again Soul heard the Reilly’s footsteps and thought to himself “one more step is all I need, just one more!” Then it happen Reilly took one more step and in that instance Soul jumped to his feet and attacked again this time he had to have got him but again he lost the feeling of the sword from his hand and then he felt a sting sensation across his face as he was hit by the staff. The force of the hit caused Souls head to spin as he fell to his knees.
“This was my day to win and you will not take that from me this time!” yelled Soul at the top of his lunges as his eyes turn crimson red with anger and he stood up and looked Reilly in the eyes and said “fira ignigthia.” With that Soul shot two fire balls at Reilly both aim right at his heart but Reilly just hit them away and both of them hit Soul in the chest which caused him to fall to his knees again. Soul got weakly back up to his feet and yelled “Fira encircle” when throwing his arm out in a circle. This caused a ring of fire around Reilly. All this caused Reilly to do was throwing his own arm out and yell “reduca” which made the fire disappear. Soul looked at Reilly in amazement and said “goddess dam you” and then Soul mouth curled into an evil smile and he mouthed the words Fira engulfa. This caused a giant amber fireball to go flying right at Reilly and he tried to jump out of the way but then it changed direction in midair and then head straight at where he was now standing . Reilly looked in amazement and then it hit him and he yelled “watera jet” which caused a blue stream of water to shot out of the palm of his hands. The water and the fire balls meet in mid air and when it was put out Reilly looked like he was ready to kill Soul , his face was turning from tan to pink, to red, to crimson and then he looked like a boiled lobster and all that Soul could think was where did I put the butter now?
“Were did you learn that spell”, asked Reilly.
“One of the guards taught it to me last night. He said he was embarrassed by the way I keep getting my ass handed to me by you”, said Soul.
“What did the guard look like?” asked Reilly.
“He was dressed like any other fire guard with the red and yellow uniforms and the black gloves and black boots and the hood that cover all but the face, but there was something different about his face, something I think will always haunt me till the day I die.” Said Soul.
Reilly eyed Soul with caution as if he were looking at a mad man which Soul must have scene because Reilly did not have to asked the next question on his mind before he was given the answer.
“He didn’t have one. I mean all I saw was to red eyes staring at me in the blackness. It was like looking at to red pebbles at the bottom of a deep black lake.
“UNKANO” cursed Reilly to the sky.

Chapter 3
At that very moment a young boy with green hair came running from one of the building in the distance stopping just short of running into Soul but still managing to cover himself, Reilly and Soul with a cloud of dust in the process.
“I am truly sorry my lord” said the boy as he bowed before Reilly.
Now that the boy was closer Soul could see that he was wearing the clothing of a poor servant boy, a sliver shirt that was three sizes too big for him so it looked like a dress and worn down brown boots that had holes in the sides so you could see that the boy was not were socks. The boy spoke again which brought Souls attention back to his dirty face with patches of dried on dirt and mud all over it. “Sir, you are need by the council down in the normal room as all ways. “
“Dam, why now! I have so much to do. I am on my way. Soul, stay here and practice “said Reilly panicking as he took off running for the brick building that the young boy had come running out of.
Soul sat waiting for Reilly to go into the building and then started to take off after him.
“You were told to stay here!” exclaimed the dirty green haired boy.
“How old are you?” Soul asked with a hint of annoyances in his voice.
“I am twelve” said the boy with an attitude.
“Would you like to make it to thirteen?” asked a now angry soul.
“Yes” said the boy without thinking.
“Then heed this warning and heed it well. It is not your place to tell magi what he was told to do. “Soul said with hate dripping off every word.
With that Soul bent down and picked up his sword, placed it in its sheath and took off running after Reilly. As he got closer, the crimson red brick exterior of the castle seemed to bleed down in to the earth. In the center of the building was a sliver metal door that hand polished black onyx’s handles. Soul reached down and opened the door and when he did he was surrounded by the darkness of a hallway. Souls grab the railing and walk down the marble stone steps. The stairs lead down to a marble walled hallway that leads underneath the building.
There was very little ambient day light and what it did have came from the window that were at least ten feet over head.
To Souls surprise Reilly was at the end of this long hallway about to make a left turn into another tunnel. Soul walk carefully so not to let the light from the window cast a shadow that Reilly would be able to see.
Reilly turned down the hallway and Soul rushed up to the corner was Reilly had been standing. He peaked around the corner and saw that at the end of this hallway were two black doors with golden craved angels on them and he also saw Reilly standing about a third of the way down. Soul was sure that he would be safe so he stepped out into the hallway and when he did the sunlight hit him and casted his shadow right down the hallway in right in front of Reilly.

Chapter 4
Soul began to panic because Reilly stooped and began to look around. “He must have seen that. Why else would he have stopped?” Soul thought to himself looking around trying to find a place to hide but there was nothing and then when he was bringing his eyes back up the hall he saw it, a side hallway it was glowing a bright yellow light from inside it.
Soul ran to the hallway with nothing but a moment to spare because just as he stepped in the hallway Reilly spun around. Soul held his breath as he heard Reilly being to walk down the hallway to where he was. Soul began to panic again “he is going to see me if he looks down here” he thought to himself.
Reilly looked from left to right as he walked down the hallway to were the shadow he had seen had come from. To his surprise when he got to it shadow have came from there was nothing there.
Soul was sweating uncontrollably as Reilly looked right down the hallway where he was standing thinking to himself “now I have had it! He has to see me!” But, to Souls surprise it was like Reilly had not even seen the hallway at all because all he did was look at it as if he were looking at a wall and then turn around and began to walk back to the other the door at the other end of the hallway.
This time Soul waited till he heard the door open and shut before he came out his hiding spot. When he came out to the main hallway again he rushed for the door at the end and to his surprise when he looked back to see the hallway he had hidden in it was not there.
Soul looked up at amazement at the black doors before him. They were at least two feet thick and had to be thirty feet high and had to weigh at least a thousand pounds each. On the doors were craved to golden angels who had their wings out spread so that the left one on the right door and the right one on the left door actually came out and formed golden handles to open the massive doors. One thing that Soul always wondered was why his people need such big doors when the tallest one of them was six feet tall.
Now I have a problem! I need to hear what is going on in there but I can’t just walk and say here I am now start talking. Soul Thought to himself. Then it hit him like a ton of bricks. He stepped forward to the wall and said “listena throwa” and with that the marble wall began to turn to an opaque white and then it faded more and more until there was nothing there at all so Soul could see in the room.
A candle at the center of the carved wooden table was the only source of light in the brick walled room. The around the table were eleven chairs with the same design craved into them and in this chairs were eleven cloaked men , one of whom Soul knew right off Reilly. Next to Reilly sat a smaller man with baby blue hair. Next to that man on his left was a man with a goatee and silver hair. The rest of the room was a rainbow a reds, yellows, and blues. Just then the baby blue haired man stood and began to speak.

Chapter 5
“My friends, you all know why we all know why we are here. A dark day has once again fallen on the land that we call home. It has been over a thousand years since the last time the dark clouds have been seen in your bright skies. Unkano is back and he wants to complete his plan that he started so many years ago. He wants to obtain all of the gates. The last time he attacked with the purgatory spirits the great council decides to break the great gate in four pieces earth, air, fire, water. Each of these gate pieces were given to one of the groups of people that lived on the earth at the time. The earth gate was given to the people of the woods and they changed their name to the earth tribe. The fire gate was given to the people of the volcano and they changed their name to the fire tribe. The air gate was given to the people of the mountain and they changed their name to the air tribe. The water gate was given to the people of the lake and they change to the water tribe.
Each of the newly formed tribes made a pack with the god and goddess that they and their kin would protect the gate by any mean even if it surely means death for them. Most of the protectors of the gates are believed to be dead, but one live here in this very city. Soul is the son of the Fire king and Queen and is this cities last chance to save its self.”
Another of the men stood up this one had fire red hair and he spoke with a gritty voice “you expect a child to be able to succeed where everyone else has failed! Taka.”
“Yes I do!” said the man with the blue hair. “It is destiny and who are we to interfere with destiny. “
“Destiny is not all knowing. She could be wrong. “Said the Tea.
“It is his destiny. The only why that we can tell is to try” said Taka.
“Unkano killed his parents and they were older and better trained them him.” Tea yelled outraged.
“That is why he was chosen who would be more motivated then someone trying to avenge the death of a family member.” Taka said as clamed as ever.
To this Reilly stood up and looked both of the men in the eyes and in a no nascence manor said “How much time do we have to Soul ready?”
“The other tribes sent there people three days ago. So I would say that we have about a week at the most “said Taka speaking in a hurried manor.
“Then I must get back to training him” said Reilly standing.
With that Soul knew that even though no had said it out load the meeting was over so he said “disappear “ and the wall went back to the look of solid stone and Soul took off running back up the hallway and out to the practice field again. He stopped only for his eyes to adjust to the bright sunlight outside. To his surprise when he got back to the center of the practice field the servant boy was still standing were Soul had left him.
The boys begin to shake as Soul looked at him. To this Soul Said “calm down and just don’t tell Reilly that I followed him and you will be fine. “
Just then Reilly walked up behind Soul and put his hand on Souls shoulder “I need to talk to you.” Said Reilly.

Chapter 6
Soul fallowed Reilly as he led him off the practice field and into a little cove of the side of it. The water came from the top of a waterfall and then pounded on the rocks below before it formed in to a lake that ebbed and flowed as they walked along the side of the shore.
“Soul, this is dark day! In the last few days we have found out that a threat that we had thought we had defeated him but now he has come back and he is out to complete a plan that started with your father and mother. As you know they were the king and queen of the fire tribe. They were killed by Unkano” Said Reilly.
“What did Unkano do to them?” Asked Soul.
“When Unkano rose to power he took all of the most powerful magi and tortured them until they broke. He would use their own power against them until there body would disintegrate because they would overload the body.” said Reilly.
“That is horrible to have one’s own power turned against yourself “Said Soul looking up at the sky.
“Soul, you are one of the last magi’s that are left and you are this tribe last chance to protect the Fire Gate. Reilly said looking at down at the boy.
“I will have his blood for the blood of my ancestors, his flesh for there’s. I will not stop until his breaths his last breath. His death is the only thing that will stop the endless, ruthless, pointless bloodshed. This is my will mote it be.” Soul said.
With that Soul and Reilly walked back to the practices field and soul took his stance again and allowed the sword to hang loosely at his side.
“Soul, the one thing you need to know is that magi is only half the battle. The other half of the battle comes down to simple swordsmanship. So for the next days we will be practicing sword fighting.
Reilly pulled up his staff and jump at Soul swinging it from left to right spinning it around and around as fast as he could. Soul saw an opening in the old man’s defenses and with his new found inspiration he struck. This time Soul was too fast for Reilly to stop him and in a second there was blood on the tip of Souls sword.
The next few days when by with nothing really happening Soul gained more and more with his swordsmanship and magi talents he soon Soul was able to land two , then three, then four hits in a practices session.
Then on the seventh day news came of a rainbow group of riders entering the kingdom by the southern border. At this news Soul begin to get his gear packed for the trip. He managed to only have two settle bags when he was done.
Soon there came a knock on the door which made Soul jump almost throw the roof.
“Come in!” Soul said and the door opened and in walked the dirty young servant still in the shirt that was three sizes too big for him. His face was still as dirty as ever.
“Sir the others are entering the intercity and they want you down to get ready.” The Servant boy said as he grabbed the two settle bags that Soul had packed and lead the way down to the court yard.

Chapter 7
The sunlight was falling upon the marble court yard and then the reflection was bouncing off the ground and into the windows of the building. When Soul walked into the courtyard all of the tribe people were outside and waiting to see if the rumors were true.
Soul managed to make his way throw the crowed just as three hooded riders came into view. The riders allowed there horse to slow to a forced walk as they came into the courtyard. Each of the riders wore the same style cloak in a different color. The first rider wore a green cloak and Soul could see that he was every tall while the second rider wore a royal blue cloak and the final rider wore a Sliver cloak.
When the horses were finally stopped seven farm hands ran up to grab hold of the horse as the riders dismounted them. When the green hood rider had both feet on the ground he spoke “Where’s the one named Soul king of the fire tribe.” Soul stepped forward and the green hooded rider fell to his knees. “your highness, my name is Sodu and pledge that by life or death I will serve you to the fullest till this war is over “and with that Sodu took down his hood and is black hair fell carelessly over his emerald green eyes like vines hanging on the side of a building. Soul looked at the man and was amazed he had to be at least 7 feet tall when the shock had worn off Soul spoke “first I must say there is no need for you to call me your Highness or sir. I am just a child like you and second I am honored to fight by your side. Now would you please get up?”
Just then out of the corner of his eye Soul saw that the blue rider was slipping while trying to dismount her horse. So Soul ran over to help her getting there in time to grab her but as he did his hand brushed the side of her right breast.
Souls withdrew his hand and as he did the blue hooded rider yelled “Do you mind?” and slapped him across the face leaving the right side of his face stinging and his cheeks three shade as red as they had been to being with a pale hand print outline. The blue hooded rider lowered her hood and as she did her midnight bluish black hair fell down cascading over her hood. The color of her hair caused royal blue eyes to stand out even more then they usually did against her bleach white skin. Standing next to her Soul could not help but to stare at her. Her beauty bewitched him and she seemed not even to notices herself as it. Then she gave a graceful cortile and Said in a voice that seemed too small for her stature “Soul, my name is Asion and I to pledge that I will help you whether it is by my live or death until this war is over.”
Soul looked over at the last rider as Asion came up from her cortile and he saw the sliver rider jump off her horse and land softly on the ground beside it. After her feet hit the ground the sliver rider lowered her hood and her blond hair fell to the sides of her face. The blond in her hair caused her sliver eyes to glow in the sunlight.
When she Soul was surprise by the youth in her voice “Soul, my name is Shauna, and I am from the air tribe and I also pledged that I will by my death or life help you in this fight. May my bow and arrows protect us will.”
“May my whip service us well!” said a now excited Asion.
“May my Battleaxe hold back any enemy we face!” said Sodu whose eyes now were on Asion.
Now that the group stood side by side Soul spoke “it is my honor that I have had the pleasure to meet you all and now my sword protect you all with honor and pride.
Then soul felt tough at the side of shirt and turned to see the dirty servant boy with his dirty face and in his hands was a ruby red sword and a red hooded cloak which he handed to Soul. Soul pulled the red cloak over his head.
“Soul this is your fathers sword it will come to be great help in this battle.” Reilly said with pride in his voice.
With that a fourth horse came to join the other three and the company of riders clamed back on to their horses and with Soul at their side they rode off into the bright sunlight.
As they crested the mountain that leaded away from the city Soul looked over his shoulder and thought to himself hopefully this will not be the last time I lay eyes on this beautiful city of my own.

Chapter 8
The group rode for hours until the sun began to set behind dire mountain to the west.
“Soul, I think we should set up camp and lay low for the night.” Sodu said.
“That sounds like a good idea” said Soul and as he did the group stopped and began to set up camp for the night.
“Soul we need fire wood why don’t you and Asion go and gather some. Shauna asked and with that Soul got to his feet pulled off his red cloak and reviled his all black clothing underneath. Soul was wearing black jeans with a black button down shirt with sliver buttons and he also wore a black braded belt with sliver pentacle as a belt buckle. When Soul looked over he could see that Asion had taken her blue cloak off and now was wearing a black full length dress that stopped at her ankle. The dress straight and had just enough room so that you see her body shape but she could still move easily and also around her waist she wore a sliver belt with a golden leaf as a belt buckle.
Soul began to walk to the woodland surrounding them and Asion fallowed. As soon as they were in the woods soul began picking up lose firewood on the ground.
“Soul, I one thing I don’t understand is if you are royalty why are you here. I mean don’t you have a kingdom to run.” Asion asked.
“To tell the truth I was too young to take the throne when my parents were killed. I will not be old enough until my seventeenth which is coming up this year. I had all intentions to take thorn from the steward this year and then I was told that I was to go and fight Unkano.
“Do you think that this maybe part of plane to keep you from the throw. You know power corpus and great power corpus greatly. “Asion stated.
“What is your story I mean why you fight in this evil.” Soul asked Asion.
“I fight for family honor. You see my mother fought beside your mother and father in the last battle. She saw them die and she made me vow that when the time came I would stand beside you and fight. Asion said.
Soul moved forward and picked up more firewood and then he turned around and spoke to Asion saying “you mention your mother and didn’t mention your father, are you mad at him?”
“No I have never had the chance to meet my father. No one knows who he is! All I know is that he was a travel that was in town and my mother fell in love with him. “Asion said now starting to get nervures.
Soul could tell that he had struck a nerve and he began to start saying “I am sorry” but he was stopped as Asion turned and walked away from him.
“Asion please I did not mean to make you mad.” Soul said.
“You didn’t and if you would shut I would be able to tell if we were being fallowed.” Asion snapped. Soul stopped and dropped the wood he was carrying and place his hand on the ruby hilt of his father’s sword.
“Soul, there is someone coming but I don’t think you will need that.” Asion said.
Soul removed his hand from the hilt of his sword and looked at Asion surprised.
Then he heard footsteps coming up on them and Asion didn’t even seem to be scared.
Chapter 9
Within minutes the source of the noise had come into view it was Sodu and Shauna.
“Soul I thought you were Asked to get wood. Not to drop it on our account. “Shauna said with a chuckle.
“If you don’t mind I was getting ready to place the tip of my bald in you guy’s thoughts.” Soul said.
“Well we were just getting worried about you. You have been gone for almost three hours and it is getting dark. “Shauna replied.
Soul who was now picking up the wood that he had dropped could not help but smile at that one. Sodu looked down and saw Soul smiling and said “well aren’t you just one big bag of surprises.
“What do you mean?” Soul said with surprise.
“Since I have met you, you have had a scowl on your face and you have been nothing but business and now a girl make a joke and you smile.” Sodu stated in a cold hard tone.
“What can I say there is something I like about them. They are funny unlike you.” Soul said to Sodu.
“Well I may not be funny but at least I make black look good unlike you.” Sodu shot back.
“Boy’s why do they have to be so immature?” Asion Asked Shauna with a little laugh.
“Because there boy’s that is why they act like that.” Shauna said looking over at the boys who now were picking up the wood that Soul had dropped.
When they got back to the campsite Soul saw that Shauna and Sodu had set up a place for the fire and the rest of the stuff. Soul walked over to the fire pit and started to build tepee shape with the little kindling and them placed some of the larger logs on the outside of that pile. Then he leaned over the fire and mutter “fira ignita” and with that the fire place was alight with a flame in seconds.
That night Soul and the others sat there as the rabbet that Sodu had been able to capture before going to get Soul and Asion was roasting slowly over the campfire and the smell was making Souls mouth water.
When the rabbet was ready Soul enjoyed every bit of the warm juices running down his thought and as he chewed the juices just keep coming. Soul had never had food cooked like this in the fire tribe. Sodu was an amazing cook even better then Bessie the cook at the castle.
After eating the group decided that it would be best to get some sleep after talking about which ways to go in the morning. They had decide that they would head to the south for there were rumors of a kingdom that they might be able to get to help them.
Soul watched as each of his comrades went to sleep until he himself fell into an uneasy sleep.

Chapter 10
The ember city of Ninga was in Souls dreams but there was something different about the city.
