Haunting Shadow

curled in a u shape
I lie all alone
in overwhelming darkness
that’s infusing my soul

words like daggers
etch a path to my core
extinguishing my essence
so only carnage remains

still your voice echoes
the insults ring clear
they scream in my head
forever haunting me

your cruel words
have shattered my will
binding my belief
that I am nothing

as my lip quivers
your shadow winks at me
it knows I’ll never shed
this worthless image of me
