The innocence of sleeping angels
Angels sleep the sleep of the innocent
Free of guilt and torment
As adults we forget to forget
We carry our hurt like a bad debt

As we grow we hold our pain
We shun emotion, and try to blame
Too busy with the faults of others
We ignore the pain that hurts our lovers

I watch my Angels sleep
Their breathing light, yet deep
They lie together, holding each other lightly
Their little chests rise and fall ever so slightly

With this watching I find my peace
As priceless as the Golden Fleece
I pray they remain free of torment
And always sleep the sleep of the innocent
