forgiveness

i recently learned a new thing
about me
this knowledge
is good
and true
and honest

i learned
that forgiveness
was easy for me
when the person to forgive
is someone i love


i found
i heard less
    "sorry"
because i saw
    "person i love"

of course i accepted the apology

but in my heart
it was more than that

seeing someone
i love
and knowing that love
is strong
was a more compelling feeling than saying
"i accept your apology"

it felt freeing

my forgiveness was
obvious
and uncomplicated

it was nice to learn
that forgiveness
was easy for me
when the person to forgive
is someone i love
very
much
