The Beginnings of a Writer

I wrote this years ago to remind me where I once was & where my dreams had taken me.

At a flicker of a lighted matchstick

Engulfing everything in one fell swoop

Shadows of unwritten words took birth

Emerging from the smoke

Extinguished by the crackling light

I stood alone… confused

Gaping and gawking at the incandescent shapes

Of the breathing, monstrous-like beings

I began to breathe in heavily…

In the humble recesses of my abode

The hypnotic images of letters

formed words in a flash

It read: Use Me. Write Me. Let Me Live.

Then it vanished…

with a whoosh of a scented candlelight

And everything ceased to be…

I was still confused…

Until one day,

It finally dawned on me

That the reality of it all

Would earn me…

My niche in this world.
