My Calling

A short poem about how some writers may occasionally feel.

I am a Poet
Do not give me any grief
I write for pleasure, and to express my belief.

I write for no one, except for myself
I write for emotions
Not for your shelf.

I am a poet
Judge if you must
But my words are my own
Words of understanding and trust.

Accept me as I am
Good or evil, however you choose to see
For I am a poet
Don’t underestimate me.
