For All Sad Words

Relationships are never easy

They say for all sad words of tongue and pen
the saddest are what could have been
but what of the things that still can be
things that could happen with you and me
it may not be something fantastic and great
it could easily be something as simple as fate
a small kind word said here or there
a tiny gesture to show I care
a little smile from across the way
a look in the eye to make the day
or maybe its something that just cant be
a hidden knowledge only we can see
a nod of understanding that lifes not fair
a look between two that only we can share
because no one knows but you and I
that silent question of simply “Why?”
the answer stays between us now
and its just us who know how
how to understand a person by look
how easy it is to get caught on a hook
because you've hooked me
thats plain for all to see
yet they dont see how
only you and I know that now
