Poem written for my lovely other half early on in our relationship |
| Swathed in softened skin, a snug, solid chrysalis. Eyes open, but blind in decadent indulgence, seeing nothing but thistle, hibiscus, lavender, magenta. Heavy ardor, lips like subdued sunlight skimming over fevered skin, blooming in its beauteous light. Gentle hands carefully caress the antiquated caterpillar cocooned within. Sustaining succor pours through pouting lips, uniting two in tremulous transformation. Metamorphosis. Layers peel away like rose petals, lifting the veil on burgeoning creation. Awaking from the dormancy of Morpheus, creatures arise anew. Unfurling opalescent wings, fragile and trembling on the precipice of shattering. Joining hands, serenely smiling, safe, secure, we soar. For Katherine, my greatest muse and inspiration. 28 lines. |
