Something Divine

A visit from an angel

So bright, yet not blinding
Hovering over me, a shimmer of light
Something so calming and warm
Awakened me during the night

A sense of comfort took over
Like nothing I have ever felt
Appearing now in human form
By my bed is where he knelt

Wings stood high behind him
His features were soft and fine
I know now, that  I have witnessed
Something gracious , and so divine

As I woke the morning after
I felt so content without a single fear
And even though my room was empty
I felt the warmth of my angel near
