The river Styx is calling me ... (Form: English Sonnet) |
| Black Water A soft exhale. The vapors lightly dance; their rainbow colors fading in the night. The river Styx is calling me, perchance to carry me beyond this worldly site. I'm gently cradled to her icy breast. She sings in dulcet tones to reassure, a liquid promise of eternal rest. Despair cannot attend her great allure. She wraps me softly in her inky arms, protecting me from that which calls my name, with promises of her unrivaled charms; one taste and I can never be the same. Inhale! I find the peace I sought is gone. Within this dream, I find myself a pawn. An entry for the January round of "Poetic Traditions Poetry Contest " Form: English Sonnet Line Count: 14 |
