Coloured Chocolate

My memories of easter

Thirty two eggs to make for my class
Fondant icing mixed in a bowl of glass
Rich chocolate melting on the stove
Icing in colors of pink, green and mauve

Each egg is made for a boy or a girl
With little dabs of icing laced in a twirl
Green for the leaves and pink for the rose
Blue for the boys, cause that's how it goes

I wear my new dress to celebrate spring
My basket is full of painted eggs 'n things
Treasures found from the bunny that hid
My favorite memories of being a kid

Dinner you know would always be ham
Sweet bread with jars of jelly and jam
Treats of chocolate; a very sweet crunch
My basket was full of a colorful bunch

Skipping ropes 'n hopscotch to take up the day
Until the late afternoon- we were excited to play
Easter was a tradition in my mom's home
Believing the Easter bunny came out to roam
