An ode to my parents, who created me,



They drank and they drank,



They drank away my nourishment,



They drank and they drank,



They drank away my education,



They drank and they drank.



They drank away my adornments,



They drank and they drank,



They drank away my family,



They drank and they drank,



They drank away my friendships,



They drank and they drank,



They drank away my future,



But, there’s hope for them. The recovering drunks,



Stone sober am I, the grown child, its reflected in my eyes,



All the pain instilled in my,



Still carrying the burden of the Drinks legacy,



Yet, help, never came for me
