Free Verse A night on the town |
| Feeling restless on a beaten path under the July hot moon; you and I – we were laughing. Heading to the crowded streets where the city lights were bright 'n crowds could be heard. We left the day behind us once the sun had taken all that was tired and old; where year after year we pick the grapes on the vines- a place we would grow old. But tonight- we dance; the free dance, under the stars that only hang on the right side of the moon. Prancing among the princely spirits of vineyards where we placed our dreams of fine wine and September gold. You in a fine dapper coat 'n me in my cherry red dress between our grins, we kiss standing close to shadows waving in the wind. Sweeping me off my feet, twirling me under the watch of patio lanterns. Until tomorrow takes us back- tonight we shall laugh. 29 lines |
