| Sorting through my too cluttered desk I spy a decorative card- One of fond appreciation, Encouragement and kind 'thank you'. I smile. High-pitched barking from my spaniel Reminds me it’s his dinnertime; Trying hard to write this poem And trying hard not to rhyme – oops! I smile. Soft yarn on a hand-knit sweater waits for my granddaughter to wear Labor of love and now finished For her, navy wears white flowers; I smile. Glaring from an office corner Stands worn bag of unsorted mail Why did I let it go so long? To write, to knit, to write, of course! I smile.
