Silence of Machines

The rain came in blankets as my love was slipping away. His battle was fierce, but his injuries more. I turned on the radio, music silenced the machines.
I put the station to 80’s, laid on the bed, holding him like I’d done since I arrived after the accident. We’d fought, he stormed out, needing time alone.
November Rain came on. Our song. He squeezed my hand, took a deep breath and passed away. I let the song finish, wiped my tears, kissed him goodbye. Now I was the one on my own.
