The battle

Physical fights are hard, mental battles are exhausting.

There are times when you have that

sudden urge to strike out

But civility helps you swallow the shout

The sudden rage that builds up inside

swells to an unfathomable bull ride

To envision the hand open and in flight

gives an ear to ear grin of delight

But the angel of virtue whispers in the ear

softening the gray mass to be clear

I walk away

to fight another day
