A short poem in response to a writing prompt |
| Our thankful light forgot to shine Oh wonder of wonders carrying the messages of thine In august assembly we traverse expanses so vast Sometimes in the future, sometimes in the past Seeking cells that harbor life so precious A frenetic pace, vibrant and luscious Inexorable is our gleam leaving no shadow hidden For our search is a survival of the unbidden We give our hunt a semblance of verisimilitude Ponder on that one blue dot, judging its attitude Were we remiss in casting our glory on such a speck? For the infighting and hatred at speeds beyond breakneck They see us as thy gods that illuminate from above Showering benevolence, religion and rules out of love For once our thankful light forgot to shine And forever doomed the one that was three of nine |
