A cheap hotel visit

Arkansas

An arkansawyer
I will never be,
But I remember
Waking in a cheap hotel
At 4 in the morning
And casting furtive eyes
Across a Little Rock
Parking Lot
Before running to my car
And getting back on
Interstate 30
To beat the morning light
To Texarkana.
