Questioning the act of betrayal

Betrayal slides inside the heart

Destroying what was once within

Sowing further seeds of doubt

A heart to surely never trust again

Insidious, nimble, incessant and uncaring

It slips inside the mind so fraught

Poisoning any hopes or dreams

Can betrayal be overcome?

Can it be defeated or forgiven?

The answers lie deep within

Taunting, daring the heart and mind to trust again.
