August August

August is quite hot where I live, but it is important due to births & anniversaries.

Respected by such august traits
the month of August stands
as keeper of most honored dates,
quite worthy of great bands.

Today is August 12th, you see.
It honors Momma's birth
for 98 years ago did she
then cry in excellent worth.

The 26th stands two weeks hence.
'Tis my birthday, I trow.
'Twas not one lowly spared expense
when slapped behind I'd know.

My funny Mom, she'd often tease,
"I'm two weeks older than
my oldest son" as logic flees,
the one she named as Stan.

The first of August honors two,
my dearest wife and me.
We've walked together many years through.
The next one will be forty.
